Fashion Designer

Job Summary: The Fashion Designer will be responsible for conceptualizing, creating, and developing fashion designs that align with the brand's aesthetic and target market. Will work closely with cross-functional teams, including Production Merchandising, Purchasing, R&D, Product and Development, Merchandising Planning and Control Departmentand Marketing, to ensure that the designs are translated into successful retail products that meet customer needs and contribute to the company's growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Design Development:
    • Conceptualize and develop fashion designs, including apparel, accessories, and potentially footwear, that reflect the brand's identity, trends, and market preferences.
    • Create detailed sketches, illustrations, and technical drawings to effectively communicate design ideas to the production team.
  2. Market and Trend Research:
    • Stay updated with current fashion trends, consumer preferences, and market insights to inform design decisions.
    • Analyze and interpret trend forecasts to adapt them to the brand's design direction.
  3. Collaboration and Communication:
    • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including merchandisers, pattern makers, and product developers, to ensure the seamless execution of design concepts.
    • Communicate design concepts, details, and requirements effectively through visual presentations and discussions.
  4. Material and Trim Selection:
    • Identify appropriate fabrics, materials, and trims for each design, considering factors like quality, cost, and availability.
    • Collaborate with suppliers and vendors to source necessary materials and maintain strong relationships.
  5. Prototyping and Sampling:
    • Oversee the creation of prototypes and samples, providing guidance and feedback to ensure designs are accurately translated into physical products.
    • Participate in fittings and adjustments to ensure the garments' fit, comfort, and overall aesthetic meet brand standards.
  6. Collection Presentation:
    • Contribute to the development of lookbooks, presentations, and visual displays for showcasing collections to internal teams and potential buyers.
  7. Adaptation and Iteration:
    • Continuously refine designs based on feedback, market performance, and emerging trends to enhance the brand's offerings.
  8. Technical Expertise:
    • Stay knowledgeable about garment construction techniques, pattern making, and manufacturing processes to ensure design feasibility and efficiency.
  9. Brand Consistency:
    • Ensure that all designs align with the brand's core values, identity, and aesthetic.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Proven experience as a Fashion Designer, preferably within a retail or fashion industry setting.
  • Proficiency in design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop) and other relevant design tools (corelDraw)
  • Strong understanding of textiles, fabrics, and garment construction techniques.
  • Creative flair and the ability to translate concepts into compelling visual designs.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Knowledge of current fashion trends and market dynamics.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality designs.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing a range of design work.
  • This is an onsite work (face-to-face only)
