Your role

ISS is looking for ambitious fresh graduates to join their dynamic team of researchers and fill the role of Junior Data Analyst in Makati, Philippines.

This position will be responsible for deliverables which entail obtaining financial documents, data collection from various sources, data quality, and verification, and researching of regulatory filings to support multiple ISS databases. 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Researching financial regulatory documents, specifically prospectuses, to maintain an up-to-date database of open, closed-end, variable annuity mutual funds, and ETFs
  • Analyzing and extracting key industry data for client-facing applications and research reports from financial documents and regulatory filings
  • Collecting data based on established methodologies, comply with established work processes and performance standards to ensure timely and high-quality data
  • Effectively utilizing ISS databases, the SEC Edgar website, and the Internet to complete research
  • Participating in data quality assurance efforts, including performing root-cause analysis for identified data quality issues
  • Doing in-depth analysis of mutual fund investment strategies and objectives
  • Determining relevant and interesting industry changes and summarizing concisely in client reports
  • Supporting process improvement and technology projects by contributing to specifications and testing deliverables
  • Helping maintain documentation of work processes and institutional knowledge in a centralized, web-based database
  • Working collaboratively with team members both in the Philippines and in the U.S.
  • Actively cross-training and expanding opportunities to work on various data processing and researching responsibilities across different ISS databases
  • Performing special projects and other related duties as assigned

About you

To be considered, you must have these qualifications:
 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Management, Finance, Business, Economics, Mathematics, or a closely related field, or equivalent experience
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; can thrive in a cross-border / multi-cultural work environment
  • Knowledge of mutual fund, annuity, and/or insurance industry is a plus
  • Gathering and analyzing financial data from regulatory mutual fund documents
  • Demonstrated troubleshooting, follow-through, critical-thinking skills, and comprehensive quality assurance analysis
  • Experience using Excel to manipulate and prepare financial data is a plus
  • Ability to work cooperatively and strategically in a team environment with all levels of professional, technical, and administrative staff and to integrate resources on a timely and organized basis
  • Amenable working at Makati City on a permanent late dayshift schedule (12nn- 9pm, Manila Time)
  • Amenable to go on an onsite training for at least 2 months prior to transitioning to hybrid working arrangement.
  • Hybrid working arrangement (at least 3 days' work onsite per week)
